Rocket Ride Consulting

So who am I and why would you want to work with me?

History

After staying on with the third company that I helped grow from the ground up to acquisition by a multi-billion dollar public company, I was yearning to go back to the small, dynamic, growth-stage company environment where I thrive. I spent my career helping three companies grow out of early stages only to be sold to larger companies at a premium. These companies were in renewable energy, 3D computer animation and military aerospace markets, so there was quite a range. I had done this alone and with teams. Some teams were amazing and some… well, not-so-great. We learn from both our best and the worst experiences as both have tremendous value to share.

Passion and Experience

As a sales and marketing professional, my successful ideas and strategies for growth came from the field, combined with intuition and mostly from customer feedback. Ideas were shared with sales and marketing colleagues, product managers, engineers and business owners to design new and better products. Most of the time they were products and features that the customer actual wanted and needed, not what the engineers thought they needed. But many times they were products and features that they did not know they needed, so we forged a pioneering path and created the need. Collaboration with these teams was and is critical. This was all driven by consistency, focus and a relentless drive to win in new markets.

You can refer to me as a consultant, advisor, mentor, partner or whatever you like. I have almost four decades of experience of creatively keeping up with current trends and successfully building sales and marketing teams that win new business, conquest new accounts from competition, and make sure that we are all having fun doing it. For the record, I tend to shy away from promoting rigid, old-fashioned corporate leadership and management models that stifle creativity and opt to manage in a way that harnesses optimum output from individual team members in today’s business environment.

Perspective

I’ve traveled the equivalent of over 81 times around the world in miles to over 50 countries interacting with people of many different cultures and values which has given me unique insight into how people think and what they want. I have been on high-performing global executive teams for both private and public companies, global boards, and most importantly I have led highly effective sales teams that anyone would want to work with as a customer. I use the rocket analogy to gauge your growing business trajectory and how you propel to the next level. So if any of this resonates with you and you are looking for help at any stage, I’d be happy to talk and see if I can help your company propel to the next phase.
